Drug Uses
Detrol is an oral medicine with antispasmodic and anticholinergic activity. Detrol tablets are used to facilitate the symptoms of detrusor hyperreflexia (urge incontinence, frequent urination) in patients with overactive bladder. Providing anticholinergic and antispasmodic effects on bladder function, Detrol helps to reduce the frequency of urinary incontinence episodes and mean number of micturitions.
The patients with an overactive bladder are recommended to start symptomatic treatment with a single pill of Detrol 2 mg twice a day. After the initial evaluation of achieved urodynamic effects, reduction of Detrol daily dose to 2mg or increase of Detrol daily dose to 3-4 mg can be required. Regardless of the dose used Detrol, the total daily dose should be divided into two steps.
Missed Dose
If you forget to take a regular dose of Detrol, do it as soon as you remember. Do not take extra dose to make up the missed one. So, skip the forgotten tablet, if it is time for the next dose of Detrol.
